Hebridean & Clyde Ferries
This sign is one of 20 large identical Outdoor Electronic Variable Message Displays in daily use now for almost 10 years, for Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry Services. This is used at their Ferry Terminals throughout the Western islands and over the Mainland of Scotland.
The local Ferry Terminal Managers personally control the live information displayed on each sign, making the alterations to schedules and destinations as weather and ferry conditions dictate. Communication to the actual signs is either via LandLines or via GSM radio Modem.
HOUSINGS - Housings are custom manufactured to IP67 Exterior Weatherproof standards, in 3mm aluminium, and painted to a 10 year paint Specification.
DISPLAY TECHNOLOGY - Solid state L.E.D. with 1200 mcd daybright visibility.
DISPLAY CONFIGURATION - 3 lines each of 25 variable characters, Character height 3"
